About Michael Ramos

Michael Ramos is an American attorney, author, and former District Attorney of San Bernardino County, California. Born in Redlands, California, he attended Redlands High School before earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of California, Riverside, followed by a Juris Doctor degree from Citrus Belt Law School. After passing the California Bar in 1989, he began his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the Major Crimes Unit, laying the foundation for decades of public service.

In 2002, Ramos was elected as the 35th District Attorney of San Bernardino County, becoming the first Hispanic to hold the position. He served four consecutive terms, leading one of California's largest prosecutorial offices while overseeing significant criminal justice initiatives and advocating for victims of crime. His leadership and dedication earned him recognition throughout the legal community.

Beyond his responsibilities as District Attorney, Ramos served as President of the California District Attorneys Association and chaired the Corrections and Reentry Committee for the National District Attorneys Association. In 2004, he was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the Governor's Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board, further contributing to public policy and victim advocacy across California.

His family's history of service including grandparents who immigrated from Mexico and a father who served in the United States Marine Corps continues to shape the values of dedication, perseverance, and community reflected throughout both his career and his writing.
